The name ”Amarok” means ”wolf” in Inuit language.
The Amarok is powered by a range of TDI Commons rails diesel engines with a Flex Fuel (ethanol) option for the Brazilian market.
With the Amarok, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle is now also entering the segment of mid-ranges utes, representing an annual market of two million vehicle world wide. The VW Amarok is not only the fourth model series of VCV brand, it is also the first 1-tonne clase ute developed in Germany. This model is produced in ”Pacheco” plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The disponible engines are two TDI, 2.0 liter turbo with 163 hp/295 lb-ft. of torque and 122 hp/251 lb-ft. of torque. Both diesels are Euro5 compliant and are paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. Designed to tackle the toughest off-road terrain, the Volkswagen Amarok is offered with an electronic differential lock (EDL) and off-road ABS to significantly shorten braking distances in off-road conditions or gravel roads.
